I’M BACK
After 3 years of silence, I owe the Ethereum community a post.
This is about why I left, what I’ve been through, and why I’m finally ready to return.
The Rise and Sudden Disappearance of Crypto Gucci
For those of you who know me, welcome back.
If you’re new here, I’m Crypto Gucci
I built this account around one thing: spreading Ethereum to the masses.
Every day I shared:
The best Ethereum news
Dev updates
NFT culture
DeFi
And everything happening across the Ethereum ecosystem
You may remember some of my past threads:
The Past 24 Hours in Ethereum
This Week in Ethereum
And countless others
A few years ago, the CryptoGucci community grew to almost 50,000 strong.
It was fun. It was exciting. It was a family.
And then one day… I vanished.
No warning. No goodbye.
And for that, I carry deep regret and feel ashamed.
The truth is, I burned out.
I was trying to be a full-time Ethereum advocate, a husband, a dad of two boys, and hold down a full-time job.
I gave everything I had, until I had nothing left to give.
My Son’s Journey
As many of you know, my firstborn son had bacterial meningitis as a baby.
In 2017, my wife and I spent over a month in the hospital, watching our son battle through meningitis, seizures, and the unknown.
After we got home, our son had to learn how to walk, talk, and eat all over again.
For years, we were in and out of doctor’s offices seeing:
Neurologists
Physical therapists
Speech therapists
Audiologists
Fast forward to 2021
After multiple tests, we learned our son was completely deaf in one ear from the meningitis and had hearing loss in the other.
We were able to get him fitted for a hearing aid to help amplify his hearing.
He couldn’t hear himself talk for the first four years of his life. His world sounded like it was underwater.
Since then, we’ve continued speech therapy, and it has worked wonders for his speech.
It’s been a journey, but God has been with us every step of the way 🙏
So why did I step away in 2022
Because of my son.
We had so many appointments. The stress was piling up. And my family needed me fully present.
My oldest son needed me.
So did my youngest.
So did my wife.
So I did what I had to do.
I gave them all of me.
The past few years were about being a dad.
Going to doctor’s appointments
Coaching both of my sons in baseball
Being fully present
I wouldn’t trade those moments for anything, but I regret how I left this space.
I left without a word.
And I’m sorry.
I never meant to abandon this community.
But it was all worth it because now both of my sons are thriving.
My oldest son is entering 3rd grade, is a star baseball player, and has the most joy of any kid I’ve ever known.
My youngest is starting kindergarten, loves life, and is full of wonder.
Being their dad is the greatest blessing in my life.
Daily Life
Even though my oldest is doing well, we still have daily struggles.
We take him to weekly speech therapy, hearing tests, and we help him navigate a world that isn’t built for kids who are hard of hearing.
My wife and I have started learning ASL (American Sign Language) to better communicate with our son.
It’s already made a big difference, especially in noisy environments.
We want to remove every barrier we can and give our son every tool possible to thrive.
As a parent of a child who is hard of hearing my eyes have been opened.
My son has to try so hard to hear the things we all take for granted.
I’m just thankful he’s in our life.
I get to help him navigate the world every single day.
Things aren’t always easy.
But every day is a blessing.
His joy reminds me that our joy doesn’t come from circumstances, but from God alone.
So now I’m back
But this time, it’s with balance.
Some days I’ll be active curating the best of Ethereum.
Other days, my family will come first.
That’s the only way I can do this right, as a father and husband first, and an Ethereum advocate second.
I don’t know exactly what this return will look like yet…
But I’m here with a renewed mission: To help people understand why Ethereum matters.
I’ve missed every one of you.
The people.
The community.
The mission.
I look forward to reconnecting with old friends and meeting new ones.
If we’ve connected before, reach out.
If you’re new, say hi, I’d love to follow you.
This space is about community, and I’m so thankful to be back in it.
I Stayed Bullish
Even while I was gone, my conviction in Ethereum never wavered.
I stayed bullish through all the ups and downs.
And I believe in Ethereum more today than ever before.
Ethereum has come so far in the past 3 years.
That’s a testament to the builders and community that never stopped pushing forward.
My Mission Is Still the Same
If you’re new, you might ask: What’s your mission?
Simple: To spread Ethereum to the world.
Ethereum isn’t just a blockchain, it’s a way of life.
Most people still don’t understand just how powerful this tech and community is.
Let’s change that.
I want to help the world fall in love with Ethereum the same way I did.
Here’s what you can expect from me going forward
